GHOST TOWNS & PIONEER HERITAGE SITES

Having grace to travel every day rain or shine, I find other prairie wonders including abandoned towns, industry works and homesteads where only the wind blows now. Here are some of my finds, adding more information as my curiosity compels me to research historic documents or meet with neighbours to find out what.

TOWN OF ALDERSON - A prairie town no longer...
Travelling the southeast Alberta road called Old TransCanada, along the CPR right of way, came across some history that is little seen by the hurry up goers along the new TansCanada north about 1/2 mile. Alderson, a small town, came to be in the late 1800's, something special happened here and I thought I would share it... click on pictures below and have a history lesson. The only residents I was fortunate to see and picture came out to show me more the prairie splender. I think this has inspired me to pay more attention to the land and hidden stories, thinking serious on a added page calling it Ghost of the Prairies. ... so I did.
